About The Position

The Yard Jockey moves tractor-trailer trucks and trailers around the yard and loading area, spots incoming trucks, and assists with loading and unloading as needed to support product flow to and from the processing plant. This is an individual-contributor role with no supervisory responsibilities. The position requires following company and departmental safety policies, wearing required personal protective equipment, and contributing to a zero-accident culture. The role also involves identifying improvement opportunities and participating in implementing solutions.

Requirements

• Experience driving tractor-trailer vehicles.
• CDL license in good standing and insurance.
• DOT certification.
• Ability to be forklift certified.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate promptly and professionally with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to handle and resolve most issues efficiently and effectively while relaying confidential information only on a need-to-know basis.
• Strong organizational and planning skills, ability to prioritize projects, and high attention to detail.
• Customer-centric attitude, high energy level, and strong sense of urgency.
• Ability to work in a wet and cold environment at 45°F (4°C).
• Ability to stand for an 8-hour shift.
• Ability to work with exposure to noise over 85 decibels, CO2, and moving production.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

• Move tractor-trailer trucks and trailers around the yard to support loading and unloading.
• Spot incoming trucks and relay information to the dock.
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks as needed to help product flow to and from the processing plant.
• Identify opportunities for improvement, present them to the appropriate leader, and implement, lead, or participate in solution implementation.
• Wear personal protective equipment in all areas where it is mandatory.
• Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.
• Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.
