About The Position
AMP is hiring a Yard Jockey, Roll-Off Truck in Portsmouth, Virginia. Yard jockeys support logistics operations by maneuvering open-top dumpsters around the plant yard and assisting with docking. The role includes moving dumpsters throughout the yard and carrying out related inspection, paperwork, and housekeeping duties. The schedule is 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, Tuesday through Friday, with overtime available and weekends as needed. The position is based at 3325 Frederick Blvd, Portsmouth, VA 23704. Compensation is $22.00–$24.00 per hour. The job requires frequent standing, walking, using hands and fingers, handling or feeling, reaching, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, and talking and hearing. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 45 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Requirements
- Strong driving skills for maneuvering small and large dumpsters in tight spaces.
- Good physical stamina for duties including hitching and unhitching dumpsters.
- Attention to detail when inspecting containers, performing yard checks, and handling forms and paperwork.
- High school diploma or GED.

- Five years of recent experience in heavy equipment operation.
- Clean driving record and solid work history.
- Experience operating a wide variety of heavy equipment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with docking dumpsters.
- Inspect containers.
- Perform yard checks.
- Complete necessary delivery forms and paperwork.
- Clean out empty dumpsters.
- Keep the yard clear of debris and trash.
- Move dumpsters to and from locations throughout the plant yard.
