About The Position

The Yard Driver works outside the plant as part of the receiving department. The role drives a yard truck throughout the shift to move and park trailers and trucks as needed, including backing vehicles in and out of the receiving dock. The driver completes and documents an initial safety inspection of the yard truck, maintains constant communication with the supervisor and receiving team, and monitors the radio to respond promptly to requests. The position may also assist receiving team members with unloading trailers and perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

This position pays $18.60 per hour and is on the first shift. The successful candidate must be able to perform the job’s physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of experience operating an 18-wheeler or shag truck with a trailer; experience may be combined across employers.
• Ability to back trailers using mirrors.
• At least 18 years old.
• Valid state-issued driver's license.
• No DWI/DUI conviction within the past 12 months.
• Fewer than 4 points according to the Tyson Yard Driver Evaluation System.
• Willingness to submit to the Non-DOT disclosure and release form to obtain a motor vehicle record (MVR).
• Ability to lift, pull, and/or push up to 50 pounds.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with others and adhere to Tyson's safety culture.
• Willingness and ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Complete an initial safety check and inspection of the yard truck and document it on the inspection form.
• Communicate with the supervisor and receiving team to coordinate trucks that need to be backed in and out of the receiving dock.
• Monitor the radio and respond promptly to requests from the supervisor or shipping and receiving team members.
• Assist receiving team members with unloading trailers as needed.
• Communicate issues during the shift to the supervisor in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the supervisor.
