About The Position

The American Heart Association has an exciting opportunity for a Writer, Campaign Messaging to join our Content and Channel Strategy Team. This is a full-time, 12-month temporary contract position with the flexibility to work remotely. This role blends campaign messaging, audience insight, and strategic email communications. The Writer, Email and Campaign Messaging help shape how campaigns come to life by developing messaging, concepts, and email content that connect with audiences and inspire action. You'll work early in the creative process, helping translate campaign objectives into audience-centered messaging that guides communications from initial concept through execution. A significant focus of this role is writing high-volume email communications and newsletters, ensuring content is relevant, personalized, and aligned with audience needs. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys turning ideas into compelling campaigns, understands the power of personalization, and knows how to create messaging that drives engagement, conversion, and meaningful audience connections. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Typically requires less than two (2) years of related work experience.
  • Proven experience developing campaign messaging and audience-focused communication strategies.
  • Success in creating email content that supports engagement, conversion, and audience participation goals.
  • Understanding of audience segmentation and personalization principles.
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, concise, and compelling communications.
  • Experience writing for both consumer and professional audiences.
  • Strong editing, proofreading, and quality-control skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple communication projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience collaborating with marketers, strategists, and subject matter experts.
  • You start with the audience, seeking to understand what matters most to them and how messaging can create meaningful connections.
  • You enjoy shaping ideas and turning campaign objectives into clear, actionable messaging.

Responsibilities

  • Develop campaign messaging, concepts, and communication frameworks that support organizational priorities and audience engagement goals.
  • Partner with strategists, marketers, and stakeholders to shape campaign messages that resonate with specific audience segments.
  • Write, edit, and proof high-volume email communications supporting campaigns, events, programs, and organizational initiatives.
  • Create compelling email copy designed to increase engagement, registrations, participation, and other conversion-focused outcomes.
  • Develop messaging that can be adapted for audience segments, ensuring relevant and personalized experiences.
  • Apply knowledge of personalization strategies to create content that aligns with audience interests, behaviors, and needs.
  • Write and edit promotional communications supporting Scientific Sessions, Healthy Living, Lifelong Learning, and other programs for healthcare professionals, researchers, and consumer audiences.
  • Produce recurring consumer newsletter content that is engaging, clear, and aligned with brand standards.
  • Develop promotional and recap newsletters for scientific council audiences, highlighting key events, achievements, and upcoming opportunities.
  • Create clear calls-to-action and messaging that encourage audience engagement and response.
  • Collaborate with marketing, content, and stakeholder teams to ensure messaging remains consistent with campaign objectives.
  • Self-edit and provide final proofing to ensure accuracy, quality, and attention to detail.
  • Use audience insights and performance feedback to strengthen messaging effectiveness over time.
  • Stay current on trends in email marketing, personalization, audience engagement, and campaign communications.
  • Other projects as assigned.
