About The Position

Functions as the clinical resource for patients and staff for ostomy, continence disorders, acute and chronic wound and skin breakdown, and fistulae. Provides direct wound and ostomy care in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Provides patient/family teaching and instruction of wound and ostomy management both pre and post operatively. Assists the healthcare team in the evaluation of skin and wound products and equipment, along with providing educational programs, in-services, and bedside teaching for the nursing staff. Stays up-to-date with skin care practices and shares advances in wound and skin care assessments, evaluations, treatments, and prevention measures. Assesses all patients with a pressure injury staged at a 3 or above and sees all patients that have developed a hospital-acquired pressure injury (HAPI) and meets appropriate reporting requirements. Assesses overall hospital needs and practices to eliminate HAPIs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Nursing (BSN) required.
  • A minimum of four years of clinical experience required.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of California - Current and in good standing.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Must obtain Wound and Ostomy Certification within 12 months Enterostomal Therapy Dept.
  • Must obtain Wound and Ostomy Certification within 24 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience in Wound and Ostomy preferred.
