About The Position

Upon consultation, the Wound and Ostomy Specialist assesses, plans implements and evaluates wound and ostomy care on inpatients throughout the hospital. Provides direct patient care and education to selected patients. Serves as a resource and educator to the staff nurse and physician. Is an integral member of the treatment team and is responsible for the case management of specific patients an in working autonomously and in collaboration with the physicians. The Wound Care Specialist will serve as a resource and educator to physicians and patients when requested by the MD and as staffing permits in the outpatient clinic areas.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida.
  • BLS from the American Heart Association.
  • National Wound Care certification within one year of hire or transfer (PRN status employees must have certification at time of hire).
  • 2-5 years of Med-surg, Intensive Care experience.
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in developing relationships with all members of the Health Care Team.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Displays attention to detail.
  • Excellent assessment skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Wound and Ostomy Nursing experience.
