About The Position

The Clinical Nurse - Wound Ostomy provides direction and coordination for a specific patient population with disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems supporting the IU Health Way. The primary area of expertise is in wound, ostomy, and continence management. This role also serves as a consultant to the healthcare team in the area of expertise, ensuring optimal patient care and management. The Clinical Nurse - Wound Ostomy specializes in managing complex wound, ostomy, and continence cases, offering expert guidance and support to the care team. The role involves developing individualized care plans, providing education, and ensuring best practices in wound and ostomy care are implemented. The nurse acts as a clinical resource, promoting patient-centered, evidence-based practices within the department.

Requirements

  • Associates of Nursing (ASN) required.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Current certification in Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing (CWOCN) within 1 year of eligibility for certification.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per department policies.
  • Clinical experience in wound, ostomy, and continence care preferred.
  • Knowledge of wound management, ostomy care, and related medical terminology.
  • Ability to serve as a clinical resource and consultant within the healthcare team.

  • Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
