About The Position

This is a part-time Wound Care Nurse position within an inpatient setting at Community Hospital. The role involves conducting thorough patient assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, performing wound dressing changes, educating patients and caregivers, and monitoring wound healing progress. The nurse will also monitor for signs of infection and complications that could affect recovery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least two (2) years of Medical-Surgical nursing (or equivalent).
  • Current, unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse in Colorado.
  • Current certification by Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNB) as a CWOCN, WCN, CWON, or COCN required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients with wounds, evaluating the type, size, depth, and condition of the wound.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on the specific needs of each patient and the characteristics of their wounds.
  • Perform wound dressing changes using aseptic techniques to minimize the risk of infection.
  • Educate patients and their caregivers on proper wound care techniques, including wound cleansing, dressing changes, and signs of infection.
  • Regularly assess and reassess the progress of wound healing, adjusting the treatment plan as needed.
  • Monitor for signs of infection, complications, or changes in the patient's overall health that may impact wound recovery.
