About The Position

Syracuse Alliance Church is a multi-generational, multiethnic, Bible-believing church in the Valley section of Syracuse. Its mission is to magnify Jesus Christ and empower people to share the gospel. The Worship Director cultivates and grows a culture of authentic, Spirit-led praise and worship as an extension of the church’s mission to connect people with the love of Jesus.

The Worship Director works closely with the Lead Pastor to provide consistency in corporate worship and in transitions from worship to the message. The role oversees, contributes to, and participates in the development of the worship ministry across all ages. This is a part-time position, with potential full-time opportunities, requiring no less than 24 hours per week, including at least 16 hours in the office.

Requirements

• Agree with the church’s Statement of Faith and become a member of Syracuse Alliance Church.
• Complete a background check.
• Have a personal, genuine, and growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
• Have knowledge and understanding of the leading of the Holy Spirit.
• Have a heart for worship and for leading God’s people into His presence through song.
• Have knowledge of the technical aspects of music.
• Be able to sing and lead with piano or guitar.
• Know how to use Planning Center and ProPresenter, or be willing to learn.
• Be familiar with soundboard operation.
• Be able to lead the worship portion of weekly services.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the Lead Pastor and Tech Lead on vision-based planning and design of the music ministry.
• Coordinate and lead weekly rehearsals and services using Planning Center Online.
• Lead church vocalists and instrumentalists in the worship portion of each weekly service.
• Ensure all aspects of each service are loaded into ProPresenter.
• Select music that aligns with the church’s vision and message.
• Lead a song, solo or with the praise team, during the response portion of the service.
• Assist with recruiting, equipping, and training worship-team volunteers.
• When requested, provide worship or special music for Celebration of Life services and weddings.
• Fill in on administrative roles as needed, including clerical duties and assisting the Lead Pastor.
