About The Position

The Worship Assistant is a major supporting role to the Worship Ministry of The Heights Church. This current position includes being the assistant to The Associate Worship Director with implementing details for the classic service, and to assist the director in coordinating all choral programming including adult (Worship Choir), preschool, children, and senior adults alongside the Associate Worship Director and Worship Pastor.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Planning and Executing the 9:30 Worship Experience: Assists in corporate worship with the Associate Worship Director for the classic service, using applied gifts to facilitate congregational worship of the living God. Work and coordinate with Worship Pastor and Associate Worship Director on Classic service needs. Coordinate and work with Orchestra Coordinator instrumentalists in worship leadership on any musical needs for Sunday morning. Oversee and assist with all other aspects related to the classic worship and music program. Make any changes to flow sheets as needed. Insert and Check lyrics on Pro-Presenter. Send Weekly flow emails to staff and additional volunteers.
  • Assist and Coordinate the Adult (Worship) Choir Program: Encourage, lead, and assistant direct the worship choir program; investing in all opportunities to model the pursuit of the advancement of God’s glory by passionate praise, joyful service, musical excellence, and grace among those who participate. Coordinate and assist with leading weekly choir rehearsals. Recruit, identify and cultivate musical and vocal talent. Create a culture of fellowship and unity. Reserve Choir Room / Worship Center. Maintain group with all contact information in Ministry Platform. Copy and Download music as needed. Coordinate fellowships / events. Prepare for Wednesday rehearsal. Send weekly email with updates. Compile and distribution of weekly newsletter. Compile weekly Music repertoire.
  • Assistant Direct and Coordinate the Senior Adult Choir: Encourage, lead, and be the assistant director the senior adult choir program; investing in all opportunities to model the pursuit of the advancement of God’s glory by passionate praise, joyful service, musical excellence, and music therapy opportunities among those who participate. Coordinate and Co- lead weekly choir rehearsals from September - May. Work and coordinate the calendar/season with the senior adult minister. Recruit new choir members. Coordinate and plan ministry opportunities to include singing for homebound church members and nearby assisted living/nursing homes. Create a culture of fellowship and unity. Reserve Choir Room and determine set up (doors scheduled for 9:30-11 AM). Print music packets and copy CD’s at beginning of semester if needed. Send weekly email. Assist as needed with events & activities, payments, trip details, etc. Coordinate Christmas end of year banquet. Serves as Choir Director when Associate Worship Director is out.
  • Help Coordinate and Plan the Children’s Worship Programs: Build, encourage, lead, and direct the children’s worship program, investing in opportunities to teach and lead children in worship. Provide opportunities for children to use their gifts and talents to glorify our Father, lift the mighty name of Jesus, and hide Biblical truths in their hearts – all to make disciples. Work and coordinate with Children’s and Preschool minister. Build and lead a leadership team in areas of need: administrative, technical, assistant directors, accompanist, drama directors, small group leaders, snack coordinators, etc. Cast vision. Provide biblical direction, spiritual guidance, care, support, and prayer. Create curriculum. Provide training opportunities for leadership team. Develop, plan, and execute Summer Music Camp. Manage and watch over Registration (Online). Reserve rooms and determine setup. Monitor registration – max number of kids 150. Coordinate Break Out Nights, Retirement Concerts, and End of the Year Party. Order supplies as needed. Plan/coordinate/Direct the Fall and Spring Musicals. Serve as Theatre Director over the Fall, Spring, and Summer Musicals.
  • Other Ministry Responsibilities: Schedule and plan Sunday Night Gatherings. Schedule piano tuner when needed. Weekly communication to all choral family and leadership groups. All other duties assigned by Worship Pastor and/or Associate Worship Director.
  • Special Event Coordination: Assist with planning and coordinating Worship Ministry events including: Christmas Concert, Easter Sunday, and other events. Reserve rooms and determine setup. Communicate with church staff to ensure facility is prepared. Coordinate any catering needs with Church Hostess (if applicable). Arrange flight, hotel, and rental car details for guest artists as needed. Read through guest artist’s technical rider to ensure all requests are met. Serve as contact person on concert day for any needs that may arise. Prepare packets for choir with all music and listening CD’s (including the burning of CD’s). Communicate with church staff to ensure facility if prepared for guest. Coordinate any catering needs for guests.
  • Ensure Accurate, Timely Response to Communication Requests (Phone or Email): Manage email, voicemail, and communication requests in a timely, thorough manner not to exceed 1 week.
