About The Position

This position is for a work-study student at McFarlin Library. The role involves various tasks within the library, requiring effective communication, basic computer skills, and the ability to handle physical demands. Student employees must adhere to a pre-agreed schedule and be willing to complete tasks that may be monotonous. Flexibility in scheduling is available, including morning, afternoon, and weekend shifts, but schedules will fluctuate each semester.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and other library patrons.
  • Basic computer literacy skills, including Microsoft 360 and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Willingness to complete monotonous tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with McFarlin building and website.
  • Familiarity with searching for library materials.
  • Familiarity with Library of Congress classifications.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to a pre-agreed schedule created at the start of each semester.
  • Discuss any schedule changes with the student's supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, students, and other library patrons.
  • Lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Complete monotonous tasks.
