About The Position

Louisiana Delta Community College is seeking a Workforce Development Instructor for its Construction program within the Workforce & Economic Development Department. This role involves developing and teaching construction-related courses, including NCCER Construction Craft Laborer, Construction Site Safety, and Core. The instructor will facilitate both classroom and hands-on lab instruction, emphasizing safety and OSHA compliance. Responsibilities include evaluating student performance, preparing students for industry certifications, collaborating with employers for internships and job placements, and staying current with industry advancements. The position also requires maintaining student records, ensuring compliance with workforce training standards, and fostering a positive learning environment. Administrative, mentorship, and support duties are also part of the role to ensure the success of the training program.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of verifiable experience in construction or a related skilled trade.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to obtain the following credentials: NCCER Certified Craft Instructor (CCI) credentials, OSHA 510/500 Outreach Trainer certification, NSC Lift Truck Instructor certification, AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) Instructor certification.
  • Strong knowledge of construction site safety, materials handling, concrete placement, trenching, demolition, and other laborer skills.
  • Ability to deliver engaging instruction to diverse learners.
  • Strong communication, organizational, computer, and classroom management skills.
  • Strong hands-on technical skills and ability to train students in real-world applications.
  • Ability to work with diverse learners, including adult education and workforce development students.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach courses in construction related programs, such as NCCER Construction Craft Laborer, Construction Site Safety, Core, etc.
  • Facilitate both classroom-based learning and hands-on lab instruction, ensuring safety and compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Evaluate student performance through written and performance-based assessments in accordance with NCCER standards and other accrediting agencies.
  • Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications
  • Collaborate with employers to facilitate internships, apprenticeships, and job placements.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements and integrate them into course content while utilizing instructional best practices
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal workforce training standards.
  • Maintain accurate student records (attendance, grades, and certifications) and report outcomes to funding agencies and workforce partners.
  • Foster a positive, engaging, and respectful learning environment.
  • Collaborate with program staff to support student success, program development, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform administrative, mentorship, or support duties among other roles as needed to ensure the success of the training program and organization.
