About The Position

Kennedy-King College is seeking a Work Based Learning Coordinator for its Midwifery Program. This role is responsible for planning and developing clinical education experiences for the clinical phase of the program. The coordinator will monitor supervised clinical practice experiences and make necessary modifications to ensure students meet learning outcomes by program completion. The Associate of Applied Science in Licensed Midwifery program at Kennedy King College offers a rigorous, holistic, and community-centered curriculum focused on the Midwives Model of Care. It integrates foundational knowledge in biology, sociology, public health, nutrition, and pharmacology with core midwifery coursework covering various stages of care, emphasizing culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and equity-driven practice to serve diverse families.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Midwifery or a related field
• Licensed to practice as a Licensed Midwife in the State of Illinois.
• Two years of work experience in Midwifery
• Moderate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Good knowledge of program administration methods
• Good knowledge of use of instructional technology
• Good knowledge of program accreditation standards and regulatory compliance
• Good knowledge of curriculum design, assessments and clinical education relating to midwifery
• Knowledge of applicable higher education software systems
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
• Strong administrative and organizational skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment
• Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in handling sensitive situations

Responsibilities

• Maintains links with clinical instructors, community health centers, and other agencies involved in the clinical phase of the program.
• Assures the availability of remedial instruction for struggling students.
• Reviews syllabi and lesson plans, in conjunction with the faculty, and ensures all are appropriately mapped to curriculum, and meet accreditation standards.
• Orients instructors to ensure student learning outcomes and expected educational competencies are communicated to instructors and scheduled for students.
• Monitors supervised clinical practice experiences to ensure instructors are fulfilling student learning outcomes and recommends modifications as necessary to ensure student learning outcomes are met by each student by program completion.
• Works with clinical instructors to ensure documentation of student demonstration of defined professional behaviors and that student assessments, evaluations, various documentations and grades are properly obtained, completed, accurate and reported.
• Accountable for program’s compliance with the accrediting body standards.
• Disseminates regulatory program changes and updates to the instructors.
• Monitors and informs program managers of mandatory compliance issues and program changes.
• Directs staff activities in preparing for ICCB and other program reviews.
• Establishes the clinical rotation schedule for the term and assigns clinical students using the established network of clinical sites.
• Assigns instructors to clinical sessions; selects the books for the term and helps select student supplies.
• Meets with representatives of potential clinical sites and develops new/additional sites for the program.
• Performs clinical site evaluations as part of the contract renewal process and writes qualitative evaluations of the site.
• Defines and maintains consistent and effective processes for the initial and ongoing evaluation of all sites used for students’ clinical practice experiences, using comparable evaluation processes for clinical sites regardless of geographic location.
• Ensures and documents that each clinical site provides the student access to physical facilities, patient populations and supervision necessary to fulfill the program’s expectation of the clinical experience.
• Participates in the application review process, College and program Open House activities, and new student orientation.
• Submits all State and National test applications for program completers.
• Coordinates the development of an electronic standardized Midterm and Final examination and proposes recommendations for modifications.

Benefits

• Salary Range: $81,085.00 - $89,193.50 per year.
• Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
