About The Position

This posting is for one (1) Temporary Full-Time position that may continue until November 2027. The Edmonton Police Service requires an Intelligence Support Clerk with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to provide support to the Organized Crime Section and the Branch Intelligence Hub / Domestic Offenders section in day-to-day duties.

Requirements

  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects related to word and information processing or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college, supplemented by training in basic microcomputer applications and a minimum of two (2) years’ diversified word and information processing experience OR Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects related to data entry or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college and a minimum of two (2) years’ diversified data entry experience including general office procedures.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of diversified office experience, including extensive data entry.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power BI and Outlook.
  • Able to enter data with a high degree of accuracy and speed.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • The ability to maintain excellent working relationships and deliver a high standard of communications services.
  • Must be able to work both independently with minimal supervision and as an integral part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of a police environment is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Branch Intelligence Hub / Domestic Offenders section in day-to-day duties.
  • Query, collect, collate, interpret, draft, and distribute documents including target sheets, bulletins, briefing notes, and regularly scheduled workload reports.
  • Data mine for entities of interest, possible targets, and/or person of interest.
  • Scan criminal events and crime trends to identify persons of interest and make recommendations for appropriate response.
  • Respond to requests for information from internal and external stakeholders within identified timelines while following set business rules in place.
  • Review Police occurrence reports and Street Check Reports (SCR’s) in addition to other intelligence reports.
  • Research, identify, collect, and create online posts to support EPS investigations using open-source techniques.
  • Apply the intelligence cycle to information received while following the appropriate information classifications.
  • Maintain Branch/Section spreadsheets, logs and dashboards.
  • Performing other related duties as required.
