We are currently looking for experienced an experienced Woodshop Assistant. This is a very handson and physically demanding position. The ideal candidate must: have a positive attitude, follow all shop safety rules, have a basic understanding of hand and power tools, have excellent communication skills, and be able to perform repetitive tasks. They must also be technically inclined and able to properly utilize tools and machinery. Since problems with machinery may arise, Woodshop Assistants must be able to analyze situations and find solutions. Employees are evaluated after 90 days with the company.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience with tools: panel saw, chop saw, band saw, staple gun, various hand tools (hammer, tape measure, pliers, etc.), various router bits, and sanding belt
  • Basic mathematical arithmetic knowledge
  • Must have excellent attendance and an exceptional willingness to learn
  • Good team player who can work efficiently with minimal supervision
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Confirmation of a negative drug screen prior to starting
  • Ability to stand in one area for up to 8 hours in a day
  • Ability to lift product numerous times throughout the day

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing: 6 months (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assembling pallets/skids for assembly process on a conveyor line, and seat cushions
  • Building crates for freight shipments
  • Operating an automated CNC machine
  • Using Kan Ban system to manage production output
  • Selecting the appropriate cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials to be used
  • Examining and measuring completed units and parts to identify any defects and to ensure units conform to predetermined specifications; adjusting machine controls to resolve production errors
  • Maintaining cleanliness and safety of work area, and complying with safety standards and regulations
