About The Position

The Woodshop Associate works with building materials in a woodshop or in a construction setting. This role involves working cooperatively with the Wood Shop Supervisor, collaborating on practical cost-effective solutions for building creation, repair, and maintenance. Responsibilities include wood fabrication, plan design/engineering, devising assembly methods, and creating a Build of Materials Cut Sheet (BOM) for custom items based on a template provided by the Supervisor. All labor requires appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen (including THC).
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check (no felonies last 5 years).
• Entry level experience welding with Mild Steel and Metal Inert Gas-MIG (10% of job). Training provided.
• Entry level experience in wood work - create, repair, build, etc. (90% of job).
• The ability to utilize skills in other trades such as plumbing, painting, and tiling.
• Ability to understand and execute a wide variety of construction instructions, 2D and 3D.
• Able to read a tape measure while adding and subtracting fractions.
• Able to lift and carry 50lbs.

Responsibilities

• Keep work area clean and organized following all OSHA policies and procedures during the use and movement of power, heavy and industrial equipment.
• Maintain repair shop tools and assist associates on the proper way to use them.
• Possess a general understanding of the warehouse, its departments, department management, and logistical practice.
• Matches building materials to use and space for installation accuracy.
• Preparing, laying out, cutting, and fabricating metal components.
• Welding components in a flat, vertical, and overhead position.
• Creates materials that fit expectations, working from technical engineering drawings if necessary.
• Computer knowledge.
• Help keep repair practical, cost effective, and lasting.
