About The Position

OB/GYN of Indiana, Carmel Care Center, a division of Axia Women’s Health, is seeking a part time Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. This role involves performing physical examinations, conferring with patients, collaborating with the department for patient care, and coordinating patient care. The Nurse Practitioner will practice under standard procedures consistent with company policy and legal requirements. Experience with IUDs & Pessaries is helpful but not a requirement. The patient population includes OB and postpartum patients. The role requires conducting age-appropriate assessments, including history taking and physical examinations. The practitioner will perform systematic data collection, focusing on various aspects of patient status, and provide patient/family education. Consultation with supervising physicians or other clinicians is expected as needed. The role also involves participating in effective patient care, reviewing medical records for follow-up or diagnostic studies, and establishing effective working relationships with the healthcare team, patients, and families. Proficiency in safety principles, emergency protocols, and legal aspects of patient care (confidentiality, risk management) is required. A service philosophy in all interactions and proficiency in computer use for documentation and information conveyance are also expected.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years experience as a Nurse Practitioner in an OB/GYN practice setting
• Must meet credentialing requirements established for Nurse Practitioners
• Active, unrestricted Indiana Medical License & DEA

Responsibilities

• Performs physical examinations.
• Confers with patients in person and by phone/electronically.
• Collaborates with others in the department to ensure a smooth flow of patient care consistent with established quality indicators.
• Participates in the overall coordination of patient care.
• Practices under the standard procedure established for the WHNP role consistent with Company policy and in accordance with all legal requirements.
• Conducts age - appropriate assessments of patients, including history taking and physical examination consistent with department protocol.
• Performs assessment/data collection in an on-going systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and cognitive status, patient/family education, family involvement, and patient advocacy.
• Consults with supervising physician or other clinicians as dictated by patient need and assessment findings.
• Participates with physicians and other clinicians in the department to assure effective patient care consistent with quality indicators for patients cared for in the designated service.
• Reviews medical record for follow up or ordering of diagnostic studies under established protocols.
• Establishes effective working relationships with members of the health care team, patients, and families.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and applies safety principles as identified by the practice.
• Performs efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events.
• Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management in all aspects of patient care and unit functioning.
• Demonstrates a service philosophy in all interactions with patients, families, and all members of the health care team.
• Demonstrates proficiency in the use of computers and telecommunication modalities to document, track and convey information.
