About The Position

Merchandisers promote the sale of live plants by creating and maintaining displays according to plant characteristics and each Garden Center’s layout. They unload plant carts onto fixtures and maintain display appearance by culling and condensing plants. The position works primarily outdoors, may involve travel between locations within an assigned District, and occasionally includes indoor work. Some administrative duties, such as submitting photographs and completing surveys, may be required. This position does not directly manage employees or supervise a team.

Requirements

• Experience with plants and retail merchandising, or a desire to learn about them.
• Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely and complete tasks as required.
• Demonstrated reliability in following through on assignments.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment by following safety guidelines and protocols.
• Flexible availability, including weekends and key holidays during peak seasons, based on business needs.
• Willingness to embrace company culture.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and use a smartphone.
• Fluency in English and ability to see, speak, hear, read, and write.
• Ability to work in outdoor elements, including dust and allergens.
• Ability to lift and push up to 35 pounds unassisted; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds; and perform buddy lifts of 51–100 pounds.
• Ability to walk, squat, twist, bend, reach, and occasionally climb stairs and/or step stools under five feet.

Responsibilities

• Execute live nursery programs and maintain merchandising standards.
• Keep live goods displays fresh, neat, clean, and organized according to the layout.
• Communicate regularly with the District Manager, Team Lead, and appropriate store staff.
• Inform the supervisor of issues involving displays, product quality, safety, or store partners.
• Maintain a professional, customer-friendly attitude and provide customer service and assistance with live goods.
• Follow company safety protocols to maintain a safe working and shopping environment.
• Follow customer and vendor policies and procedures in daily work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
