Wiring Technician (Switch Gear) - 1st shift
About The Position
Vertiv is seeking a detail-oriented, safety-focused Wiring Technician to join its manufacturing team. The role involves wiring electrical components for switchgear systems based on schematics and engineering drawings, supporting reliable power solutions for global customers. The technician installs and connects wiring, mounts electrical hardware in enclosures, routes and terminates wires and cables, inspects wiring for quality and safety compliance, assists with functional testing and troubleshooting, documents completed work, and maintains a safe, organized workspace. The position may require extended periods of standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, working around energized components while wearing appropriate PPE, repetitive motion, bending, and fine motor work. Shift flexibility and overtime may be needed.
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with wire strippers, crimpers, multimeters, hand tools, and power tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Basic understanding of electrical theory and safety standards, including OSHA and NEC.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to follow safety guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment.

- Previous experience in electrical wiring, panel building, or switchgear assembly.
Responsibilities
- Install and connect wiring for electrical switchgear components using schematics, diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Mount relays, circuit breakers, switches, busbars, and other electrical hardware into enclosures using hand and power tools.
- Route, strip, crimp, and terminate wires and cables accurately using appropriate techniques and tools.
- Inspect wiring to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and code standards.
- Assist with functional testing of wiring systems and troubleshoot issues such as miswires or component malfunctions.
- Follow work instructions and document completed wiring tasks according to production requirements.
- Work safely around electrical components and maintain a clean, organized, hazard-free workspace.
