Wiring Technician (Switch Gear) - 1st shift
About The Position
Vertiv is seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Wiring Technician to join its manufacturing team. The role involves wiring electrical components for switchgear systems based on schematics and engineering drawings, helping ensure reliable power solutions for customers. The position includes installing hardware in enclosures, routing and terminating wiring, performing quality checks, assisting with testing and troubleshooting, documenting completed work, and maintaining a safe and organized workspace. The work may require extended periods of standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, working around energized components while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, repetitive motion, bending, and fine motor skills. Shifts or overtime may be required as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with wire strippers, crimpers, multimeters, hand tools, and power tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Basic understanding of electrical theory and safety standards, including OSHA and NEC.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to follow safety guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment.

- Previous experience in electrical wiring, panel building, or switchgear assembly.
Responsibilities
- Install and connect wiring for electrical switchgear components using schematics, diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Mount relays, circuit breakers, switches, busbars, and other electrical hardware into enclosures using hand and power tools.
- Route, strip, crimp, and terminate wires and cables using proper techniques and tools.
- Inspect wiring to ensure it complies with quality, safety, and code standards.
- Assist with functional testing of wiring systems and troubleshoot miswires or component malfunctions.
- Follow work instructions and document completed wiring tasks according to production requirements.
- Work safely around electrical components and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace.
