Wiring Technician

Moonshot•Lewisville, TX

About The Position

Moonshot Electronics is seeking detail-oriented Wiring Technicians to support production of electrical control panels, junction boxes, and wiring assemblies. This hands-on role involves installing electrical components, routing and terminating wiring, interpreting technical drawings, and ensuring finished products meet established quality and safety standards. The position is open to candidates starting a career in electrical manufacturing as well as experienced technicians, and offers opportunities to expand technical skills, solve challenging problems, and grow within the organization. Technicians build and wire panels, junction boxes, harnesses, and related subassemblies; prepare and terminate wiring; interpret drawings and schematics; inspect and test completed work; and communicate discrepancies or quality issues. Depending on experience, demonstrated proficiency, and authorization, the role may also include complex troubleshooting, mentoring, independent workmanship inspections, advanced builds, tooling and workstation setup, calibration management, and process improvement. Work is performed in collaboration with production, Team Leads, Engineering, Quality, and fellow technicians while following safety, PPE, ESD, and 6S requirements and applicable standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in electrical wiring, control panel assembly, electrical manufacturing, or a related field is preferred but not required; entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Basic ability to read or learn to interpret wiring diagrams, wire lists, electrical schematics, and panel layout drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, problem-solving skills, and commitment to accurate, high-quality work.
  • Ability to distinguish wire colors accurately and perform precise hand movements.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or move materials and panel assemblies weighing up to 70 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Willingness to complete required safety, PPE, ESD, IPC/WHMA-A-620 awareness, and other job-specific training and certifications.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to follow instructions, manage assigned tasks, and contribute to a safe, efficient, collaborative production environment.
  • Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, wire strippers, crimpers, hand tools, measuring instruments, and basic electrical testing equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical or trade school training in electrical systems, electronics, mechatronics, automation, or a related field.
  • Experience with advanced electrical diagrams and control circuits.

Responsibilities

  • Build and wire electrical control panels, junction boxes, harnesses, and related subassemblies according to approved drawings, wire lists, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Install and connect electrical components such as relays, circuit breakers, contactors, terminal blocks, power supplies, PLCs, and variable frequency drives, based on experience and demonstrated proficiency.
  • Measure, cut, strip, crimp, route, and terminate electrical wiring according to specifications; select appropriate tools, connectors, lugs, and crimp dies, and maintain proper wire identification, bend radius, strain relief, service loops, and wire management.
  • Read and follow wire lists, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics to ensure accurate connections and component placement.
  • Inspect completed wiring for accuracy, workmanship, and compliance with specifications; use appropriate tools, including digital multimeters where qualified, to check continuity, verify point-to-point connections, identify errors, and complete in-process quality documentation.
  • Identify and communicate wiring discrepancies, incorrect components, drawing conflicts, and potential quality issues.
  • As experience allows, troubleshoot complex electrical circuits, rework failed assemblies, support root cause analysis, and collaborate with Engineering and Quality to resolve technical challenges.
  • Follow established safety procedures, PPE requirements, ESD practices, and 6S workplace organization standards, and perform work according to applicable NEC (NFPA 70), UL 508A, and IPC/WHMA-A-620 requirements as appropriate to assigned tasks and certification level.
  • Collaborate with Team Leads, Engineering, Quality, and fellow technicians to support production schedules and maintain high workmanship standards.
  • As experience and authorization allow, mentor junior team members, provide technical guidance, assist with certification training, and conduct independent workmanship inspections and approvals.
  • Identify opportunities to improve wiring processes, workstation organization, quality, and production efficiency; advanced technicians may support first-article and non-standard builds, workstation and tooling setup, calibration management, and process improvements.
