About The Position

Join Apple’s Wireless team to test next-generation Wireless SoCs and help deliver high-quality products. The role supports an advanced lab and spans the development cycle from silicon to products, working closely with designers and architects to understand functional blocks and use cases. The engineer develops, debugs, and integrates tests for wireless chipsets, digital interfaces, power-management subsystems, and end-to-end wireless usage. The work includes stressing functional blocks, investigating issues found during testing, moving tests into pre-silicon environments, supporting product-development builds locally and remotely, and architecting test frameworks that scale to racks and large-scale testing. The role also involves developing bare-metal firmware test coverage based on design specifications, supporting pre-silicon platforms and silicon bring-up, and helping debug potential hardware issues identified by tests and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++.
  • Experience with embedded software.
  • Experience with hardware/software interaction.
  • Familiarity with computer, system, or SoC architecture.
  • Experience or interest in writing code to test I/O devices or functional units.
  • Assembly-language programming skills.
  • Familiarity with bench-debug equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and DMMs.
  • Knowledge of digital logic fundamentals, including timing analysis, state-machine debugging, or RTL/test-bench development experience.
  • Basic Wi-Fi or Bluetooth protocol knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Write, debug, and integrate tests for integrated wireless chipsets, digital interfaces, power-management subsystems, and wireless end-to-end usage.
  • Push functional blocks to their limits and debug issues found during testing.
  • Work with other groups to move tests into pre-silicon environments.
  • Work with hardware design engineers to debug silicon issues exposed during testing.
  • Architect and test frameworks that scale to test racks and large-scale testing.
  • Support product-development builds locally and remotely.
  • Develop functional test coverage in bare-metal firmware to stress the chipset, including pre-silicon platform and silicon bring-up testing.
  • Provide debugging support for issues surfaced by tests and cross-functional teams that may be hardware-related.
