About The Position

The Wind Technician operates and maintains wind turbines at the Turkey Track Wind Energy Center, a 169.5 MW wind power generation facility in Blackwell, Texas, using GE 1.5 SLE turbine technology. The role performs routine maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on wind turbines and associated equipment. Work includes climbing turbine towers and working outdoors at significant heights. The position has a 40-hour work week, with scheduled and unscheduled overtime; the schedule may vary during peak maintenance periods. This is a safety-sensitive position, and candidates receiving conditional employment offers must pass a drug test before beginning work.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent.
• One year of technical experience (such as mechanical or electrical) and/or technical education.
• Able to work outdoors in inclement weather, climb ladders without assistance, and work at heights greater than 80 meters (250 feet).
• Able to move and manipulate up to 45 kg (100 pounds).
• Weight must not exceed 120 kg (265 pounds), excluding equipment or gear worn while performing job-related tasks.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Eligible to work in the United States without current or future employer visa sponsorship.
• Must receive a negative drug test result after a conditional offer of employment to begin working.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on GE wind turbines and associated equipment.
• Climb wind turbine towers daily, using required safety equipment, to inspect, maintain, or repair equipment.
• Understand the electrical and mechanical functions of wind turbine generator components and associated equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults and repair or replace components.
• Maintain company tools, facilities, and equipment, and keep the work environment clean and safe.
• Work a 40-hour work week and be available for scheduled and unscheduled overtime; the schedule may vary during peak maintenance periods.
