About The Position

As a Wind Technician, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the Deuel County Energy Center, a 301 MW wind power generation facility in Deuel County, South Dakota, that uses GE 2.8 MW and GE 2.3 MW turbine technology. The role includes routine turbine maintenance, troubleshooting and repair, and working safely at significant heights and outdoors in varying weather. The schedule is 40 hours per week, with scheduled and unscheduled overtime; work schedules may vary during peak maintenance periods.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of technical experience (mechanical, electrical, etc.) and/or technical education.
Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather, climb ladders without assistance, and work at heights greater than 80 meters (250 feet).
Ability to move and manipulate up to 45 kg (100 pounds).
Weight must not exceed 120 kg (265 pounds), excluding equipment or gear worn while performing job-related tasks.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Eligible to work in the United States without requiring employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Must pass a drug test with a negative result following a conditional offer to begin work; this is a safety-sensitive position.

Responsibilities

Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on GE wind turbines and associated equipment.
Climb wind turbine towers daily while wearing required safety equipment to inspect, maintain, or repair equipment.
Understand the electrical and mechanical functions of wind turbine generator components and associated equipment.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults; repair or replace components.
Maintain company tooling, facilities, and equipment, and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
Work a 40-hour week and be available for scheduled and unscheduled overtime; schedules may vary during peak maintenance periods.
