About The Position

The Wind Technician operates and maintains the Chickasaw Wind Energy Center, a 202.4 MW wind power generation facility near New Hampton, Iowa, using Siemens Gamesa 3.1-129 and GE 2.82-127 turbine technology. The role involves routine mechanical and electrical turbine maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs. Technicians climb turbine towers and work at heights, outdoors in varying weather conditions. The position follows a 40-hour work week and may require scheduled or unscheduled overtime; schedules vary during peak maintenance periods.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of technical experience (such as mechanical or electrical) and/or technical education.
Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather, climb ladders without assistance, and work at heights greater than 80 meters (250 feet).
Ability to move and manipulate up to 45 kg (100 pounds).
Weight must not exceed 124 kg (265 lbs.), excluding equipment or gear worn when performing job-related tasks.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Must receive a negative result on the drug test required for conditional employment offers.

Responsibilities

Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on Siemens Gamesa and GE wind turbines and associated equipment.
Climb wind turbine towers daily, wearing required safety equipment, to inspect, maintain, or repair equipment.
Understand the electrical and mechanical functions of wind turbine generator components and associated equipment.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults and repair or replace components.
Maintain company tooling, facilities, and equipment, and keep a clean, safe work environment.
