About The Position

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR) is seeking a candidate to work within the Farm Bill Branch. This agency provides opportunities for everyone to enjoy the outdoors by fishing, hunting, boating, recreational shooting, wildlife watching or related activities in Kentucky. The KDFWR strives to maintain healthy populations of fish and wildlife across the state, and employees are passionate about the resources they manage.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a biological science, wildlife biology, fish and wildlife management, conservation biology, natural resources, environmental sciences, or related field.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the conservation provisions of the Federal Farm Bill.
  • Knowledge of or practical experience with agricultural systems and farming.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with landowners and partner agencies.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and with diverse clientele.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance and conservation programs to private landowners.
  • Provide wildlife technical support and planning at the NRCS Area Level.
  • Work with KDFWR Programs, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and other State and Federal partners to promote, coordinate, and implement wildlife conservation/management across the Commonwealth on private property.
  • Conduct program promotion (workshops and one-on-one meetings).
  • Perform conservation planning.
  • Coordinate contracts.
  • Modify conservation plans.
  • Conduct site assessments and reporting.
