Wholesale Insurance Accounting Manager

Acrisure•Great Neck, NY

About The Position

Wholesure is a specialty and wholesale insurance platform providing expertise, market access, and insurance solutions. The company is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing insurance agency. The role supervises AP/AR activities, reviews agency billing accounting operations, oversees commission revenue reporting and reconciliations, and manages a small accounting support team, including external and overseas resources. The manager provides guidance, resolves operational issues, improves workflows, and ensures accurate financial processing while remaining actively involved in daily accounting work. Specialized wholesale insurance experience is required, including program business, E&S lines, commission accounting, carrier/MGA relationships, and regulatory compliance. This is a hands-on management role focused on leading accounting operations, solving problems, improving processes, and supporting a team, rather than primarily on executive strategy and presentations. Candidates should be comfortable working on-site to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of accounting experience with supervisory responsibility is stated in the Requirements section; the Education/Experience section separately specifies a minimum of 4 years of accounting experience, including receivable and payable experience.
  • Wholesale insurance accounting background is required, including experience with program business, E&S lines, commission accounting, carrier/MGA relationships, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and revenue reporting.
  • Experience coordinating with carriers to resolve accounting and commission discrepancies.
  • Ability to supervise, mentor, and support accounting staff and consultants.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Administrative and process-improvement experience.
  • Familiarity with AI and automation tools to modernize accounting and back-office processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Excellent knowledge of operational and financial accounting, insurance agency accounting, commission accounting, and carrier reconciliations.
  • Experience with Applied Epic or a similar insurance agency management system.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency, including data analysis, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Hands-on management style and experience leading and developing accounting staff.
  • Comfort with an on-site presence for collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
