The Wet Starch Operator operates and maintains equipment used in wet milling, transforming corn into its components while supporting production efficiency, product quality, and compliance with safety, environmental, and food safety standards. Responsibilities include monitoring machinery and production through computer systems and controls, adjusting processes, conducting routine maintenance, diagnosing equipment issues, sampling and testing products, and keeping accurate inventory and product-movement records. The operator also handles raw materials, finished products, and chemicals; maintains a clean, food-grade workspace; and works with other departments to maximize productivity. The role requires learning and performing varied duties as needed. The open shift is swing shift, which covers days off for the other shifts. Employees may occasionally be required to work up to 16 hours under the union contract. The plant environment may involve varying temperatures, noise, chemicals, heights, pests, and required PPE in all departments. The position can involve extended standing and walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and working in confined spaces. The starting wage is $28.61 per hour plus shift differentials, with listed increases at six months, 12 months, and 18 months. This is a full-time role, and full-time employees are eligible for medical, dental, and vision coverage and a 401(k) plan with a competitive company match.
