About The Position

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Wet Process Operator to join our team in a fast-paced dairy manufacturing plant. As a Wet Process Operator, you will be responsible for operating and managing various systems used to produce high-quality dairy products. This includes managing the processing of raw milk, blending ingredients, pasteurization, homogenization, and ensuring that all processes meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical certification in food science, dairy processing, or related fields is preferred.
  • At least 1–3 years of experience in a dairy or food manufacturing environment, with a focus on wet processing operations.
  • Experience in operating and maintaining dairy processing equipment (pasteurizers, homogenizers, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • Basic understanding of dairy production processes, including pasteurization, homogenization, and filtration.
  • Proficient in equipment operation, monitoring, and routine maintenance.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations (HACCP, GMP, and FDA guidelines) is preferred.
  • Attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness and product quality.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot processing issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a warm, noisy, and wet manufacturing environment.
  • Comfort with repetitive tasks and physically demanding work.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Prior food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Proficient in basic math and reading comprehension.
  • Effectively communicate across team environment.
  • Must hold a State Pasteurizers license or obtain one within 90 days of filling the position.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Wet Processing Equipment: Manage and operate HMI systems to monitor the processing equipment such as pasteurizers, homogenizers, and separators to produce milk-based products.
  • Adjust and monitor operational settings (temperature, pressure, flow rate) to ensure efficient and accurate production specifications.
  • Ensure Product Quality & Consistency: Monitor production parameters and conduct quality control checks to ensure all products meet the required specifications (e.g., fat content, protein levels, viscosity).
  • Perform routine tests (e.g., sensory, pH, and microbiological testing) to verify that dairy products are safe for consumption.
  • Maintain Hygiene & Sanitation: Follow strict sanitation and GMP procedures to ensure cleanliness of all equipment, work areas, and production lines to maintain food safety standards.
  • Regularly CIP and sanitize production equipment, tanks, and pipes according to scheduled routines and hygiene guidelines (e.g., CIP – Clean-In-Place systems).
  • Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Identify and troubleshoot issues with wet process systems, making adjustments or notifying maintenance teams to resolve mechanical or operational issues quickly.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance checks on equipment and notify maintenance personnel of any defects or required repairs.
  • Record Keeping & Documentation: Accurately document production data, including processing parameters, quality results, and machine performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory documentation (e.g., HACCP, GMP, SOPs).
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with other operators, production teams, and quality control staff to ensure smooth production flow and troubleshoot operational challenges.
  • Provide support to training programs for new operators and assist in on-the-job skill development.
  • Adhere to Safety & Regulatory Standards: Ensure compliance with company health and safety policies and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, FDA, USDA).
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions immediately.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute ideas for improving the wet processing operations, focusing on efficiency, quality, and safety improvements.
  • Participate in regular audits and inspections, offering input to improve plant processes.
