About The Position

The Wet End Machine Operator is responsible for operating single-facers to achieve the highest level of production and quality. This role involves managing paper rolls, ensuring correct stock is used, and maintaining the equipment. The position also requires adherence to company policies, including safety and housekeeping, and may involve additional duties assigned by management. Requirements

  • Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
  • Able to read and follow instructions; quality, safety, job packets
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.
  • Able to apply concepts of high school math.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work experience in the corrugating, converting, packaging industry; paper, plastics.
  • May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the single-facers to produce the highest level of production and quality.
  • Check wet end line-ups to verify correct roll stock is received and used.
  • Put rolls of paper in mill roll stands ensuring proper size and grade of paper to be run and make splices and paper changes as necessary.
  • Trim only the necessary amount of paper from the rolls when preparing for splices.
  • Remove roll stock from the machine when necessary, mark the proper size, grade, diameter and lineal footage on the roll, and place core plugs in each end of the butt rolls.
  • Continuously monitor the board during runs to ensure quality and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Clean starch pan, glue roll and singlefacer area after changing flutes and at the end of the production week.
  • Take all paper off cores of stub rolls.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
