About The Position

The Equipment Operator, Wet Utilities is responsible for excavating trenches for water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems. This role involves operating heavy machinery with precision, ensuring compliance with safety policies, and maintaining equipment. The position also requires managing quality control, production, and training team members.

Requirements

Ability access secured facilities
Ability to operate large excavators with precision
High attention to detail
Physically fit to perform manual labor in all types of environments and conditions, including heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.)
Regularly required to sit and stand
Must be able to use hands to fingers, handle or feel and verbally communicate and listen
Walking, climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling
Specific vision abilities required by the position include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Excavates trenches for water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer
Installs trench boxes as necessary
Operates equipment in compliance with Muller's safety policies and OSHA procedures
Ensure proper excavation & compaction procedures are performed
Ensures all equipment is maintained by performing daily equipment inspections & grease equipment at required intervals
Demonstrate a working knowledge of underground utilities
Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required to complete the job
Manage quality control and production
Train team members as needed in a hands-on manner
