About The Position

The Wet Painter applies high-quality industrial wet coatings to metal components and finished assemblies, ensuring proper film build, color accuracy, adhesion, and cosmetic finish. This role is ideal for candidates with automotive, aerospace, or other high-precision finishing backgrounds where quality and consistency are critical.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or general education (GED) required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of industrial wet painting experience – ideally in automotive, aerospace, or metal fabrication environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and customer specifications.
  • Basic math skills (whole numbers, fractions, decimals).
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, specifications, and memos.
  • Reliable, quality-focused, and able to complete all required documentation.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive, aerospace, or other high-precision finishing backgrounds where quality and consistency are critical.

Responsibilities

  • Wet paint application to parts and assemblies per job orders, customer specifications, and internal documentation; verifies all requirements before coating.
  • Operates spray guns, pumps, pressure pots, and related equipment; adjusts settings to achieve required finish quality.
  • Performs surface prep including cleaning, masking, sanding, and solvent wiping to ensure proper adhesion.
  • Uses wet mil gauges and visual inspection to confirm correct coating thickness and finish quality.
  • Ensures proper part handling, racking, and drying/curing procedures.
  • Cleans and maintains spray guns, paint booths, hoses, and related equipment between jobs and at shift end.
  • Follows all Super Steel 7S housekeeping standards.
  • May perform trained and approved material handling using pallet jacks or forklifts (training and certification provided).
  • Adheres to all Super Steel and OSHA safety rules and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
