About The Position

Packaging Corporation of America is hiring a Wet End Utility to support corrugated production. The role involves checking paper and production schedules, assisting with machine threading when needed, cleaning equipment, monitoring operations, reporting problems, and performing preventive maintenance and housekeeping tasks. The position requires working in a manufacturing environment around machinery and mobile equipment, with seasonal temperature variations. The role is identified as 3rd shift.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Willingness to work overtime on short notice, including weekends.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with seasonal temperature variations, around machinery and heavy mobile equipment traffic.

• Previous experience in the corrugated industry.

Responsibilities

• Follow all OSHA requirements and safety rules.
• Check paper for proper size, grade, lineal, and unwind direction, and inform the clamper if it is incorrect.
• Read the wet-end schedule to determine the process to follow.
• Mark the size and grade on the side of the roll close to the core.
• Help the Double Backer thread the machine if necessary.
• Clean the corrugator and run tanks at the end of production or as needed.
• Monitor equipment operation and report problems to the supervisor.
• Complete work orders as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance and housekeeping duties as detailed in equipment-specific work instructions.
