About The Position

The Pipelayer - Wet Utility installs sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe systems. The role involves preparing and aligning pipes, checking slopes and trench bases, connecting and sealing pipe sections, and covering installed pipes. It also includes supporting job-site safety, ensuring proper excavation and compaction procedures, and training others in pipe-laying techniques. The employee must be physically fit for manual labor in varied environments and conditions, including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Required vision abilities include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Ensure job site safety.
Ensure proper excavation and compaction procedures are performed.
Install sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe systems.
Cut pipes to required lengths.
Assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction.
Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing.
Check slopes for conformance to requirements using levels or lasers.
Connect pipe pieces and seal joints using welding equipment, cement, fittings, or glue.
Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices.
Cover pipes with earth or other materials.
Grade and level trench bases using tamping machines and hand tools.
Train others in pipe-laying techniques.
