About The Position

Analyze specifications, lay out material, set up and operate welding equipment, and fit and assemble parts to fabricate a trailer. The role includes metal fabrication, MIG welding, plasma cutting, and use of an oxygen/acetylene torch. It also involves hydraulic and electrical diagnostics and repairs, simple maintenance, and moving finished products to their proper locations. This is a safety-sensitive position in a non-climate-controlled environment.

Requirements

Able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
Able to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods.
Able to lift 50 pounds when necessary to move equipment around the department.
Must meet the requirements of a safety-sensitive position.

Responsibilities

Fabricate metal parts and assemble components to build trailers.
Create quality MIG welds according to specifications and inspect welds for accuracy.
Prepare products for welding by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping, and cutting steel parts.
Change welding wire and gas tanks as needed.
Perform plasma cutting and use an oxygen/acetylene torch.
Identify and move finished products to the proper location.
Set up and use equipment safely and ensure safety devices are in use.
Operate a forklift if required and trained.
Perform first-piece inspections and subsequent inspections as required by standards.
Monitor equipment and request maintenance when required.
Perform hydraulic diagnostics and repairs.
Perform electrical diagnostics and repairs.
Perform simple maintenance and repairs as required.
Perform other duties, assignments, and responsibilities as needed.
