About The Position

Under close supervision, the Welding Technician welds J.B. Hunt containers, trailers, and other equipment to technical specifications. The position involves welding in various positions and maintaining equipment in optimal condition. Work may take place outdoors in the elements and across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends. Applicants may be considered for I, II, or Senior Welding Technician levels depending on verified years of experience and position availability.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have completed an accredited welding program, completed a Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) course, or have one year of welding experience.
• Demonstrated relevant skills and abilities through education, certifications, military service, or other experience.
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively.
• Ability to fulfill physical requirements, including lifting or moving appliances up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to wear appropriate work attire, including protective gear/PPE.

Responsibilities

• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts before assembly.
• Examine components for defects and measure them to ensure specifications are met.
• Join metal parts according to blueprints and technical drawings.
• Inspect welded surfaces and structures for durability and precision using appropriate measurement tools.
• Maintain and troubleshoot welding equipment, performing minor repairs as needed.
• Understand and follow shop safety procedures.
• Communicate professionally with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers.
