About The Position

The Welding role analyzes specifications, lays out material, sets up and operates welding equipment, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate a trailer. The position performs metal fabrication, welding, cutting, inspection, equipment monitoring, and basic maintenance and repair. It also includes hydraulic and electrical diagnostics and repair, and may require forklift operation when trained. This is a safety-sensitive position in a non-climate-controlled environment.

Requirements

Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
Ability to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift 50 pounds when necessary to move equipment within the department.

Responsibilities

Perform metal fabrication and MIG welding, creating quality welds according to specifications.
Inspect welds for accuracy and perform first-piece and subsequent inspections as required by standards.
Prepare products for welding by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping, and cutting steel parts.
Change welding wire and gas tanks as needed.
Perform plasma cutting and use an oxygen/acetylene torch.
Identify and move finished products to the proper location.
Set up and use equipment safely, ensuring safety devices are in use.
Operate a forklift if required and trained.
Monitor equipment and request maintenance when required.
Perform hydraulic and electrical diagnostics and repair.
Perform simple maintenance and repairs as required.
Perform other duties, assignments, and responsibilities as needed.
