About The Position

MATSYS is seeking a skilled Welding Technician to join our team and support prototype development, precision welding, and small-scale manufacturing activities. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-driven professional who thrives in a collaborative R&D and manufacturing environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance
2+ years of hands-on industrial welding experience
Proficiency in GTAW and GMAW welding (stainless steel, alloy steel, aluminum)
Ability to read and interpret drawings per ASME Y14.100 and ASME Y14.5‑2009

Nice To Haves

Welding certification or Associate/Bachelor degree in welding or welding technology
Experience with advanced welding methods: robotic/automated welding, laser welding, electron-beam welding
Strong skills with industrial equipment and general shop tools
Experience in mechanical design, prototyping, or product assembly
Background with automated welding technologies is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Perform GTAW welding of thin-walled aluminum and stainless steel vessels for prototype and production builds
Interpret technical design drawings, including standard welding symbols
Operate lab presses, oxyacetylene torch, plasma torch, and GTAW/GMAW welding equipment
Assist engineering staff with prototype assembly and test setups
Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to meet technical and schedule objectives
Work with design engineers on the development of products for small-scale testing and larger-scale manufacturing
Conduct routine equipment maintenance and support general shop operations
Perform additional duties as assigned
