About The Position

This is a student worker position in the Welding Lab. The assistant will provide support in maintaining the lab's cleanliness, managing supplies, and performing light maintenance tasks. Eligibility requires enrollment in at least 6 credit hours (or 1 for summer), a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above (waived for first-semester students), and enrollment in specific technical programs. Federal Work Study students will be prioritized.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. If a first semester student, GPA requirement is waived.
  • Students must be enrolled in one of the following programs: WELD, MANUF, ELMEC, ELECT, AUTO, HORT or HVACR program.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • WELD 1100 and MANUF 1151 required.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder.
  • Must be able to lift 60 lbs. with assistance.
  • This student position requires the following test/tests: Physical.

Nice To Haves

  • If a Student qualifies for Federal Work Study, the Student will be hired as a Federal Work Study employee to utilize these funds.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance in the Welding Lab.
  • Maintain the shop lab cleanliness with general clean-up.
  • Cut coupons & keep inventory of supplies.
  • Do light maintenance such as changing light bulbs, check vents, etc.
