About The Position

This internship position involves performing lay-out, fabricating, and MIG welding under supervision. The intern will operate machine shop equipment, an electric band saw, shear, and punch press to prepare parts for machining or welding, adhering to standard industry practices.

Requirements

Must have a high school diploma or acceptable equivalent.
Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints.
Ability to safely handle various forms of material handling equipment such as hoists, cranes, etc.
Requires attention and care to prevent injury to self and others when performing work.
Ability to use various measuring tools.
Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
Demonstrate a positive and business-like attitude.
Required to wear all OSHA mandated safety equipment and to adhere to all company safety practices and policies.
Ability to handle job-related stress.
Conduct all interactions with customers (internal and external), vendors, co-workers, and supervisors in a focused, positive, courteous and respectful manner.

Nice To Haves

Vocational experience in welding and/or machining preferred.

Responsibilities

Welding parts that are not load bearing.
Interpreting simple drawings, sketches, and/or work from samples and instructions.
Cleaning, cutting, and preparing various metals for welding.
Safely operating various pieces of equipment such as the saw, cutting torch, press, and brakes to produce various sub-assemblies.
Producing acceptable work that meets or exceeds all Quality Control Standards.
Safely operating various forms of material handling equipment such as hoists and cranes.
General preparation of parts including cleaning, grinding, and deburring.
Assisting with loading and unloading of trucks.
Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the work area.
Exhibiting interpersonal skills sufficient to perform as an active team member.
