About The Position

A welder will perform a variety of fabrication duties to assist with the production of Pole Transformers. This role is specifically for Watson Chapel Welding Academy Students Only.

• Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted
• Manual dexterity and specific vision abilities (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment)
• Stamina to stand for long shifts
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math skills
• Teamwork skills
• Adherence to safety protocols and addressing hazards

Responsibilities

• Assembling pieces of metal together or repairing damage in metal
• Performing a variety of duties including, but not limited to production needs, fabrication and welding
• Reading and following blueprints
• Cutting metal into appropriate shape and size
• Smoothing molten metal to remove creases
• Welding with all different types of metal, including steel and aluminum
• Complying with safety guidelines and procedures
• Producing and maintaining accurate records
• Performing other duties as assigned
