About The Position

General Dynamics NASSCO is seeking 4 Welders (J1-J4) for their Weld Shop in Norfolk, Virginia. This role involves welding on different types of base metals, understanding wire and gas combinations, and proficiency in various welding processes. Requirements

• Knowledge of welding on different types of base metals (HY-80 & HY-100).
• Knowledge of different wire and gas combinations.
• Proficiency in using SMAW, GMAW and FCAW welding process.
• Ability to produce welds acceptable for N.D.T.
• Ability to weld steel, aluminum, copper nickel, stainless steel.
• Ability to read weld gauges.
• Ability to use hand tools.
• Knowledge of standard item 1689 and the guidelines of 5 S.

• Some guidance from supervision will be needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding on different types of base metals, including HY-80 & HY-100.
• Utilize knowledge of different wire and gas combinations.
• Be proficient in using SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW welding processes.
• Ensure weld quality is acceptable for N.D.T. (Non-Destructive Testing).
• Weld steel, aluminum, copper nickel, and stainless steel.
• Read weld gauges.
• Use hand tools.
