The Welder works an hourly, 40-hour work week and may work overtime, especially to meet customer or production deadlines. The role involves reading work orders and blueprints; planning material use to minimize waste; preparing, laying out, and assembling parts in jigs or fixtures; welding and inspecting welds; and sanding, chipping, and cleaning parts. The position is safety-sensitive because it involves lifting and moving heavy material with forklifts and hoists. The employee must be able to meet PPE and monitoring requirements, maintain safe work habits, and keep the work area clean and organized. Work priorities may change in response to production schedules and customer needs. The position requires a high school diploma or GED. Vocational welding training is strongly preferred. Mechanical knowledge, welding experience, problem-solving, time management, teamwork, and the ability to maintain and repair equipment are important to performing the role effectively.
