About The Position

The Welder/Mechanic/Machinist primary duty is maintaining Marion walking draglines and will assist in mobile equipment, and coal processing facilities repair. This position requires working multiple shifts and call-out on a 24-hour basis. Work is completed in varying extremes of environmental conditions with exposure to dust, noise, and adverse weather. Pre-employment physicals / drug screenings, personal & criminal backgrounds checks will be conducted on all candidates that receive a conditional offer. Successful applicant must possess a valid driver’s license through the duration of employment. Successful applicant must meet all insurability requirements as specified by Westmoreland’s policies or Driver’s insurance provider.

Requirements

• Dragline mechanical repair experience or equivalent
• Ability to pass an established weld test
• Strong working mechanical knowledge to accomplish required work on dragline heavy gear box repair and overhauls
• Knowledge of general maintenance practices encountered on draglines
• Strong awareness and understanding of work-related safety practices
• Physically capable to work on heights above 50 feet
• Physically capable to perform heavy lifting of 50 lbs. or more
• Physically capable to work in confined areas
• Physically capable to work in awkward positions requiring prolonged bending or kneeling
• Valid driver’s license through the duration of employment
• Meet all insurability requirements as specified by Westmoreland’s policies or Driver’s insurance provider

Nice To Haves

• Machinist/Millwright experience
• Licensed mobile crane experience

Responsibilities

• Maintaining Marion walking draglines
• Assisting in mobile equipment repair
• Assisting in coal processing facilities repair
• Performing welding duties on all mine equipment including coal haulers and track type earthmovers
• Working at heights (i.e. elevated boom point and tri-structure of draglines)
• Working on heavy, open and enclosed gear systems for draglines (i.e. repair and overhaul)
• Troubleshooting lubrication systems
