About The Position

The Welder/Mechanic/Machinist's primary duty is maintaining Marion walking draglines and will assist in mobile equipment, and coal processing facilities repair. This role involves performing welding duties on all mine equipment, including coal haulers and track type earthmovers. The position requires working at heights, such as the elevated boom point and tri-structure of draglines, and performing mechanical repairs and overhauls on heavy, open, and enclosed gear systems for draglines. The work environment includes varying extremes of environmental conditions with exposure to dust, noise, and adverse weather. This position requires working multiple shifts and being on call 24 hours a day. Pre-employment screenings, including physicals, drug tests, and background checks, will be conducted.

Requirements

• Dragline mechanical repair experience or equivalent
• Ability to pass an established weld test
• Strong working mechanical knowledge for dragline heavy gear box repair and overhauls
• Knowledge of general maintenance practices encountered on draglines
• Strong awareness and understanding of work-related safety practices
• Physically capable to work on heights above 50 feet
• Physically capable of heavy lifting of 50 lbs. or more
• Physically capable to work in confined areas
• Physically capable to work in awkward positions requiring prolonged bending or kneeling
• Valid driver’s license through the duration of employment
• Must meet all insurability requirements as specified by Westmoreland’s policies or Driver’s insurance provider

• Machinist/Millwright experience
• Licensed mobile crane experience
