About The Position

Seeking a Welder/Line Boring Specialist to join our team. As a Welder/Line Boring Specialist you will perform maintenance duties at the aggregates shop which includes but is not limited to welding and fabrication, mechanical maintenance, and general labor. The candidate must have specific knowledge of moving machinery parts and the dangers they pose. Individual must possess advanced skills in fabrication and plant maintenance.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in line boring and welding on heavy equipment
  • Strong knowledge of yellow iron components (excavators, loaders, dozers, etc.)
  • Proficiency in MIG, Stick (SMAW), and Flux Core welding
  • Experience using portable line boring machines and precision measuring tools
  • Ability to read and interpret prints, schematics, and tolerances
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience with on-site/field line boring setups
  • Familiarity with OEM specs (e.g., Caterpillar Inc., Komatsu, Deere)
  • Basic machining knowledge (boring bars, cutting tools, setup alignment)
  • Experience working in aggregates, construction, or mining environments
  • Work performed in shop and field environments, including exposure to weather, dust, and noise
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Frequent standing, bending, climbing, and working on/around heavy equipment

  • CDL a plus depending on field work requirements

Responsibilities

  • Perform line boring operations on heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, haul trucks, and other machinery
  • Set up and operate portable line boring equipment to restore worn pin bores to OEM specifications
  • Conduct welding and fabrication repairs on buckets, blades, arms, frames, and attachments
  • Build up worn areas using appropriate welding techniques prior to machining
  • Measure and maintain proper tolerances, alignment, and concentricity
  • Diagnose wear patterns in pins, bushings, and bores and recommend corrective action
  • Perform field repairs as needed, including work in outdoor and jobsite environments
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain clean, organized work areas
  • Communicate repair status and needs with supervisors and equipment managers
  • Document work performed, including measurements and materials used
