About The Position

This position will report directly to the Rome TMC Supervisor. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: maintaining the RCMOS switches within the Rome TMC area (responding to alarms, troubleshooting, making repairs and/or recommending replacements, performing inspections and routine testing), providing Project Management with input for various line-related projects in the area, coordinating with the TMC Line Foreman and TMC Line Engineers to develop and execute the Line Maintenance Workplan year over year, and manage any Line contractors working within the area for the TMC (ensuring jobs are packaged appropriately, materials are procured, outages/HLTs coordinated, and jobs constructed to appropriate SOCO Specs.). This position will also be responsible for coordinating Aerial Patrols on an as-needed basis and responsible for all ITS billing of Aerial flights on other ITS Participants’ lines. This position will be filled at Level 4-5 Exempt dependent upon the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful candidate. The successful candidate must live within commutable distance of Rome TMC in Rome, GA or be willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is available if needed.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 24 months Journeyman level experience in Transmission Line or Substation Maintenance required.
  • Knowledge of Transmission Line Maintenance work practices and specifications required.
  • Knowledge of transmission line maintenance methods and specifications is required.
  • Knowledge of TEAMS, STOMP, TLMS, CAMP
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Understand various types of switches and motor operators and how to operate, lock, couple and uncouple each type
  • Technical Proficiency in Transmission Line maintenance and low-voltage electrical systems
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read and understand civil drawings, construction drawings, and AutoCAD files and drawings
  • Ability to determine strength and ensure compliance with all applicable standards for materials
  • Ability to develop material lists for projects based on the needs of the project

Nice To Haves

  • Experience responding to trouble or in support of outage restoration preferred
  • Experience troubleshooting and/or diagnosing electrical issues preferred
  • Knowledge of the ITS agreements a plus
  • Project Management skills

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the RCMOS switches within the Rome TMC area (responding to alarms, troubleshooting, making repairs and/or recommending replacements, performing inspections and routine testing)
  • Providing Project Management with input for various line-related projects in the area
  • Coordinating with the TMC Line Foreman and TMC Line Engineers to develop and execute the Line Maintenance Workplan year over year
  • Managing any Line contractors working within the area for the TMC (ensuring jobs are packaged appropriately, materials are procured, outages/HLTs coordinated, and jobs constructed to appropriate SOCO Specs.)
  • Coordinating Aerial Patrols on an as-needed basis
  • Responsible for all ITS billing of Aerial flights on other ITS Participants’ lines
  • Build relationships with line design
  • Support line maintenance crews (obtain Railroad permits, DOT permits, other issues)
  • Work with Line Foreman to manage capital absit workplan
  • Review distribution underbuilt requests
  • Manage the capital GWO process from creation to close out
  • Monitor and maintain Automated Morning Report (AMR)
  • Ensure RCMOS are tested annually
  • Troubleshoot and repair RCMOS
  • Maintain the RCMOS success/failure spreadsheet (at least monthly)
  • Meet requirements necessary to be placed onto the GPC Official Switching & Clearance List; perform switching as necessary
  • Perform special projects as assigned by TMC Supervisor
  • Manage/review line contractors (Line Crew, support crews, environmental and other contractors working on the system)
  • Help ensure complete and accurate transmission line data and documentation, including STOMP data
  • Field assistance with switching, material coordination, switching support with outages, customer contact
  • Secure contract crews as needed within budget for workplan completion
  • Review all transmission line aerial inspection reports and initiate appropriate action
  • Support SERP activities within Rome TMC, Statewide, Systemwide, and beyond the SOCO footprint at times
