About The Position

Perform work of a Line Specialist in maintaining safe and adequate services to our customers. Under direct supervision and on a training basis, assist employees of higher line classifications engaged in, and performing basic operations required in the installing, removing and maintaining of transmission and distribution poles, towers, conductors, transformers, pole top switches, cable and other line equipment, devices and appurtenances, and services. Also assist with installation of street lighting equipment and certain phases of work on metering installations and assist in the patrolling of lines and perform other related work. Operate line truck, digging equipment, small equipment and power tools. Required to climb poles and steel structures at heights of fifty feet (50) or greater to perform maintenance, removal and instillation of poles, transformers, line conductors, etc. Specialists must present a neat appearance and work with both internal and external customers in a courteous and efficient manner. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to safe work practices, the ability to work within a team, and good communication skills. This posting is being used to recruit for both Apprentice Line Specialist and Journeyman Line Specialist positions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent knowledge of English, Math and Grammar.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment.
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or demonstrate a willingness to secure one within the nine-month probationary period.
  • Live within 30 miles of their reporting headquarters.
  • Valid commercial driver’s license.
  • Commitment to safe work practices.
  • Ability to work within a team.
  • Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Completes dispatched orders via Mobile Data and Radio
  • Installing, removing and maintaining of transmission and distribution poles, towers, conductors, transformers, pole top switches, cable and other line equipment, devices and appurtenances, and services.
  • Installation of street lighting equipment.
  • Certain phases of work on metering installations.
  • Patrolling of lines.
  • Operate line truck, digging equipment, small equipment and power tools.
  • Climb poles and steel structures at heights of fifty feet (50) or greater to perform maintenance, removal and installation of poles, transformers, line conductors, etc.
