About The Position

This role assists Welder I and Welder II in various welding tasks. The helper is responsible for preparing workpieces, setting up equipment, handling materials, and operating tools under guidance. The position also involves reading blueprints, assisting with tack welding, maintaining a safe work environment, and learning safety procedures. Additionally, the helper may assist in training new team members. The role requires effective communication, interpersonal skills, decision-making, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50lbs, standing or sitting for extended periods, and periodic exposure to manufacturing environment conditions.

Responsibilities

Assists Welder I and Welder II in various welding tasks as directed.
Prepares workpieces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and scraping as necessary.
Helps set up welding equipment and tools under supervision.
Handles and stores welding materials and equipment properly.
Operates power tools and hand tools under guidance.
Reads and interprets basic welding blueprints and instructions.
Assists in tack welding components together for final welding.
Supports Welder I and Welder II in maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Learns and follows safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
Assists in training and mentoring new helpers as needed.
