About The Position
Vican Manufacturing Solutions is seeking an experienced Welder/Fitter to join our fabrication team. This position is responsible for fitting and welding structural steel, pipe supports, skids, platforms, stairs, handrails, and other custom-fabricated assemblies.
Requirements
- Previous structural steel fitting and welding experience preferred
- Ability to independently read and work from fabrication drawings
- Proficiency with MIG and flux-core welding
- Ability to pass a welding test
- Experience fitting structural members, plates, clips, supports, and miscellaneous steel
- Ability to accurately use a tape measure, square, level, and other layout tools
- Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work as part of a team
- Must be able to lift and position materials as required in a fabrication-shop environment
Nice To Haves
- AWS welding certifications are preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and weld symbols
- Lay out, fit, and assemble structural steel components
- Perform MIG and flux-core welding in accordance with project requirements
- Verify dimensions, elevations, and fit-up before welding
- Operate common fabrication equipment, including grinders, saws, torches, and drills
- Maintain weld quality and workmanship within required tolerances
- Identify drawing or material discrepancies before fabrication continues
- Follow all company safety and quality-control procedures
- Maintain an organized and safe work area
- Work with supervisors and quality-control personnel to meet production schedules
